Adani Group's Dharavi Redevelopment Project: Transforming Mumbai's Urban Landscape"



In a significant move towards reshaping Mumbai's urban landscape, Adani Group-led Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL) has announced the enlistment of renowned urban planners and designers for the ambitious redevelopment of the Dharavi slum settlement.

DRPPL, a joint venture between Adani Group and the Government of Maharashtra, has partnered with architect Hafeez Contractor, US-based design firm Sasaki, and UK-based consultancy firm Buro Happold. The project has also welcomed expertise from Singapore, drawing inspiration from the successful Singapore Housing Development Board's model, established in 1969, which has crafted over 1.2 million homes.

Adani Properties secured the bid for the Dharavi redevelopment in November 2022, committing a substantial investment of approximately ₹5,069 crore. Despite facing opposition from political parties over concerns related to the rehabilitation of small-scale businesses within the Dharavi slum cluster, the project aims to leverage international expertise to ensure a holistic and sustainable transformation.

This initiative marks a pivotal step in Adani Group's vision for urban development and sets the stage for a transformative journey in addressing one of the world's largest slums.
