"India’s 76th Republic Day: A Celebration of Heritage, Unity, and Progress"

The 76th Republic Day parade began with grandeur on Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26, 2025. President Droupadi Murmu presided over the celebrations, marking the occasion by taking the ceremonial salute.

The Parade Commander, Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, led the event, accompanied by Major General Sumit Mehta as the Parade Second-in-Command. Gallantry award recipients, including those honored with the Param Vir Chakra and the Ashok Chakra, marched proudly as part of the parade.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended as the chief guest, joining a distinguished group of international leaders who have participated in India’s Republic Day ceremonies. His presence was particularly significant, as it coincided with the 75th anniversary of India’s Constitution coming into effect in 1950. President Murmu, in her address on the eve of the event, reflected on the nation's progress and achievements over the decades.

The festivities began with a cultural performance by 300 artists playing traditional instruments, filling Kartavya Path with the resonant melody of "Saare Jahan Se Acchha." The diverse musical ensemble highlighted India’s cultural richness, earning admiration from the audience, including President Murmu and President Subianto.

The parade also featured the CRPF Mahila Marching Contingent, demonstrating discipline and empowerment, as well as the Brigade of The Guards and the Indian Air Force Band. Modern military equipment, such as the BM 21 Agnibaan rocket launcher, showcased India’s defense capabilities. The first contingent of the 61 Cavalry, led by Lieutenant Ahaan Kumar, was a standout, symbolizing tradition and excellence.

A highlight of the day was the reintroduction of the traditional horse-drawn buggy. President Murmu and President Subianto arrived in the gold-plated carriage, escorted by the President's Bodyguard, embodying historical elegance.

Across the nation, regional celebrations echoed the patriotic spirit. In Tamil Nadu, Governor R.N. Ravi hoisted the flag near Marina Beach, accompanied by vibrant cultural displays emphasizing Tamil heritage. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented awards recognizing achievements in harmony and bravery.

Maharashtra saw Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lead the state in commemorating the day. In Andhra Pradesh, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged citizens to uphold constitutional ideals while working toward ambitious goals like "Viksit Bharat 2047."

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressing the nation, called for unity and youth-led progress. In Jammu and Kashmir, army personnel unfurled the tricolor in Uri, exemplifying national pride. The Wagah Border celebrations were marked by traditional fervor, while Bengaluru witnessed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raising the flag.

This Republic Day, India awarded 93 gallantry honors, including two Kirti Chakras and 14 Shaurya Chakras. The recognition underscored the bravery and sacrifices of armed forces and police personnel. Major Manjit Kumar and Naik Dilwar Khan were among the awardees for their exceptional service in counter-terrorism operations.

Google commemorated the occasion with a special doodle, blending India's cultural and natural heritage. The design showcased diverse wildlife alongside traditional motifs, reflecting unity in diversity.

President Murmu’s Republic Day eve address highlighted India’s journey of reforms and achievements. As the nation celebrated the 76th Republic Day, it also looked ahead with resolve, striving to uphold the values of democracy, dignity, and unity outlined in the Constitution.
